Phase 2 involved the construction of a three storey 1050m2 extension directly adjacent and connected to the existing theatre, intensive care and children’s ward of Bon Secours Tralee.
Methodical planning and management of the development was required to ensure that existing Hospital services were not disrupted. Works included creating a new Endoscopy department including recovery ward and scope wash area along with the development of a new CSSD area, while decommissioning, relocating and recommissioning existing equipment on a phased basis to minimise impact on theatre processes. 1st floor provided a circulation area, clean and dirty lifts and space for a further 2 theatre expansion off the existing theatre circulation area.
Considerable out of hours works were required to ensure structural modifications and service tie ins did not disrupt the existing services and occupants.
All required control measures were put in place for the control of dust and to mitigate the risks associated with Invasive Nosocomial Aspergilosis, noise & vibration.
